Prepare before use
Keep each ending hidden until learners have predicted. Show one page at a time on screen, or print single-sided and hand out the pages in order. In the student PDF, page 1 contains grammar and practice; predict/reveal pairs follow on pages 2–3, 4–5 and 6–7.
Let pairs notice details, make two different predictions and explain their clues. Play the before clip, then reveal the next picture and play the after clip. Accept sensible alternatives: a prediction can be well supported even when it differs from the illustrated ending. The activity also works without audio.
Play or download the recordings
Eight synthetic-voice clips, approximately 7–8 seconds each. Four international voice selections are used, with the same voice kept within each pair. Accent labels follow the voice catalogue selections.
