Prepare in a minute

Print pages 1–2 for learners; keep page 3 for the teacher’s answers and guidance. No recording is required.

What do students do?

Notice how the passive changes focus, then identify active and passive verb phrases. Build six passive forms, prepare notes about a specific subject and give three or four clues using at least two forms. A partner guesses and asks two follow-up questions.

Language focus

Present and past simple, present and past continuous, present perfect and future with will. Listen for complete phrases, especially being and been, and check uncertain factual details.

Class setup, online and one-to-one

Work in pairs with the subject’s name hidden. In one-to-one teaching, swap roles with the learner. Offer It was…, It is… and It has been… as support; stronger learners can add a third form.
