Start with the illustrated profiles, then match meanings and practise word stress. Partners ask three questions and use their answers to choose a picnic, quiz or photo walk with suitable roles for different people.

Language focus

Friendly, kind, funny, shy, confident, quiet, talkative and hard-working. Use be + adjective and ask for examples. Quiet and shy are different; learners can give invented answers.

Class setup, online and one-to-one

Work in pairs. Online, display the student pages and let learners note their partner’s answers. In one-to-one teaching, take the partner role.
